05 / GOOD TO KNOW
Studio is the creation tool for editing launcher designs and game settings. Launcher is the player app for signing in and starting Minecraft. To create a launcher for your own server, download Studio.
Setup installs the app using an installation wizard. Portable runs without a separate installation. Both are for Windows 64-bit, and both store settings and game files in their dedicated user data folders.
You do not need Node.js to edit designs in Studio or run a finished player launcher. Building a new player launcher in Studio requires Node.js 22 or later and an internet connection.
The launcher uses a dedicated game environment based on the server ID, separate from your existing Minecraft installation. Use a unique server ID for each server you create a launcher for.
Server owners using direct sign-in need their own Microsoft Entra app registration and Minecraft API access approval. Players sign in on Microsoft's official page, opened by the launcher. The default download does not mean sign-in or a live server has already been configured for your community.
You can export a build project for macOS. A Mac is required to build and verify the macOS app. This website currently provides finished Windows builds only.
Studio starts in English. On first launch, it recommends a language based on your Windows language and lets you choose English or Korean. You can change your choice later in Studio Settings.
The current builds are not code-signed, so Windows may show an unknown publisher notice. Compare your downloaded file with the SHA-256 checksums listed above to verify that you received the expected file.
